On March 29, 2022, we held our first volunteer meeting for this year's festival. It was a SUCCESS, and we are so excited to welcome Rick Marruffo, Tawnya Dankert, and Bert Henry as Team Leads for three of our committees. If you weren't able to make this month's meeting, don't worry, another meeting will take place in April.

This year we will be increasing the festivities with a 2-DAY EVENT!!! We want this year's festival to be bigger, bolder, and brighter than ever before and because of that we are changing up the theme a bit. Don't worry, the mermaids aren't going anywhere! Instead, we want to give Sirena Fest a bit of Carnaval flair. If you aren't familiar with Carnaval, think Big Party. Carnevale (Italy), Carnaval (Brazil), and Carnival / Mardi Gras (US) typically involve parades, elaborate costumes, music, and a lot of fun. Now we know Carnaval is typically held around Lent, but we will be embracing the spirit of Carnaval while keeping our typical October date. Additionally, many people think of Carnaval as a risqué event; however, we want to keep this a family-friendly, child-centered event that incorporates all the flair of Carnaval costumes, parade, and excitement with none of the debauchery.
That leads us to a very exciting announcement. To celebrate the facelift we are giving the festival, we've also decided to rebrand. Drum roll please............We are proud to present to you Sirena's Creekside Carnaval.
We hope you are all as excited as we are for the coming year's festivities. Please stay tuned as we roll out more information in the coming months, and thank you so much for all of the support we've gotten from the community in our efforts to make this an event to remember!

We want to thank you all for a wonderful Sirena Festival 2021. Now that the event has wrapped up, we want to be as transparent as possible about some of the negativity and rumors that shrouded the event. During the course of this years planning, numerous red flags became apparent regarding this and past year’s Sirena Fest funds. Action was taken and the individual(s) involved were discharged of their positions, though admittedly not without continued public deception on their part with regard to their actual involvement in the planning and oversight of this year’s Sirena Fest.
Despite all of this though, we want to assure you that your personal donations as well as those of our major sponsors for 2021 are indeed safe and are being turned over to Variety to fund the all abilities playground. To further clarify, any 2021 donations made to Variety or Sirena’s of Salado were protected and will be used to fund the playground. We cannot speak to the destination of any funds made to any other persons or entities. Nor can we ensure that information you received regarding this years event or donations were valid if the information came from anyone other than Amber or Theresa.
At this time, we want to outline our steps to ensure that future Sirena Fests are not plagued with the problems of the past. First, and as indicated earlier, those responsible for the oversight of Sirena Fest funds and planning changed hands during this year’s festival with Amber and Theresa coordinating this year’s event. While we had originally planned to end our time we Sirena Fest after this year, we realized that to have made the effort to “clean house” only to leave after the 2021 festival would practically ensure the problem would rear its ugly head again. Second, many of you may not know that Sirena Fest has never been a legitimate non-profit of its own. Instead, it has operated under the umbrella of other non-profits, to whom we are very thankful for their support and guidance. It is time now though to become a legitimate non- profit of our own, and we are proud to announce that the paperwork to become our own official non-profit has been filed. This means that after the playground is funded, Sirena Fest can continue as a means of helping to fund a wide range of improvements that will benefit our community.
We thank you all for your support! We cannot wait to begin working toward an amazing 2022 festival! Please check back frequently as we role out some exciting changes over the course of the next several months.
